New Years Eve seemed like the perfect time to do a post about alcohol.

As I mentioned in my egg nog post, the good news is there are many types of alcohol that are very low carb. Here is a list for your reference:

1) Prosecco - 1 net carb

2) Champagne - 3 - 4 net carbs

3) Pinot Grigio or other not so sweet white wines - 4 net carbs

4) Sake - 1 net carb

5) Rum - 0 carbs*

6) Vodka - 0 carbs*

7) Gin - 0 carbs*

8) Tequila - 0 carbs*

9) Whiskey - 0 carbs*

10) Red Wine - 3 - 4 carbs

11) Light beer - 3 carbs

*The kicker with these is what you mix them with. Unless you're brave enough to drink them straight. I'm not. Our favorite mixer is Bubbl'r - Antioxident Sparkling water - We recently found these and love all the flavors! You can even buy these locally at Cub.

Avoid most "sugar free" drinks that have the traditional sugar substitutes like aspartame, sucralose, dextrose etc. I have read that these can actually still send you out of ketosis.

So, Happy New Years!

Here's to a better 2021!!!
