How do you calculate net carbs and why?

Basically you take the carb content and subtract out any fiber. If the product also has any alcohol sugars you can subtract half of those as well. For example:

For this product the total carbs are 11g, minus the 2g of fiber, and the half the 7g of sugar alcohol resulting in net carbs of 6g per bar. By the way these are Keto Ice Cream bars that we like, they sell them at Costco. The company that makes these subtracts all the sugar alcohol and says these are 2g net carbs. But we don't agree and neither do other health sites so if we have these Terry and I tend to share one. Don't let sugar alcohols throw you off they are commonly used in keto products and are perfectly safe and not alcoholic.
